Xbox Discreetly Eliminates Another Game Pass Perk
Players are currently reacting to the latest Game Pass subscription cost hike, however Microsoft isn't done yet. Once members noticed that typical Game Pass discounts on many in-game buys were no longer available, Microsoft announced that savings on games, downloadable content, and virtual coins have ceased to be a Game Pass perk.
Exactly Was Altered with Game Pass Discounts?
“This is not specific to any one game and reflects all games and DLC purchases. Instead of a discount on the purchases, Ultimate and Premium subscribers will earn 10% and 5% — respectively — in points when purchasing select games and add-ons from the Game Pass library,” the tech giant stated in a statement. “Ultimate members continue to have 20% discount on select games from the Game Pass library. On top of that, all Rewards members will earn points when shopping games and add-ons on the Store, while Premium and Ultimate subscribers will earn even more, 2x and 4x respectively.”
So, for example, when purchasing COD Points, Call of Duty players will get Reward Points, but no discount on the COD Points themselves.
A Catch with Loyalty Points
But there's a catch there, too: Gamers may find they can no longer use saved reward points to get complimentary Game Pass subscriptions, indicating this feature is gone.
Subscriber Reaction and Subscription Terminations
Between the recent subscription overhaul, the increase for both Game Pass and hardware, and the elimination of the member savings, Game Pass users are furious, and are canceling their subscriptions en masse. Shortly after the Game Pass price increase was announced, the portal where users can cancel their subscription briefly went down from the surge in visits it received in the wake of the announcement.
